Here it is.

Last week, just after realizing the chest we'd just revamped was going to stay at the kitchen table, I went out for my usual yard sale-ing adventures. I stopped at a house and looked around. She had a ton of antiques, but a man was there buying every one of them before I could even ask. I went into her shed, and saw the most adorable telephone table. It needed a new seat and new upholstery. But other than that it was perfect to me! When I asked her the price, I tried not to let my jaw hit the ground. $7. Thats right, she told me this could be mine for the outrageous price of SEVEN DOLLARS! I didn't even try to negotiate.
The seat was falling in and the fabric was stained and nasty. So, hubby pulled off the old seat and cut me a new one out of plywood. Then, I reupholstered it in a grey damask fabric that was on sale at JoAnn's. I love the way it turned out!

I love the basket for the kids' shoes, but I may need a bigger one.
What do you think? I've been dying to use that color blue somewhere in my house and I think I finally found the perfect spot!

Linking up to some of these wonderful parties!
Absolutely precious!!! It looks like it was meant to be right there! Congratulations on the great find and the great price!

ReplyDeleteWow! $7.00 is a steal! I have one similar to this, but it doesn't have the detail and character! I love the blue - what color is it. . .and the fabric is so cute with it! Good Job!
ReplyDeleteWhat could be more perfect for that spot!
ReplyDeleteHi- I'm a new visitor from Met Monday. I love this sweet bench! A lot of the older homes in my neighborhood have little niches for the telephone, but sadly my house does not. I think I may have to find a telephone table instead. Great job styling with accessories too!

ReplyDeleteThank you all for the kind comments! I cannot take credit for the blue. It was that color when I got it. I just added the new fabric on the seat, a very easy fix. But I am so happy I was finally able to use something that color in my house. It's a beautiful blue!
ReplyDeleteThat was a heck of deal! I love the color and the vignette you created for it. I also love the vinyl lettering above it! Perfect!

ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!!I am so jealous, at the beginning of summer, there was a yard sale with one and I just kept driving by like a stalker. I showed the man, and he told me to get it. Don't you know, the next trip to town(like an hour later) it was GONE!!! So, glad that you got one, and that price, woohoo!
ReplyDeleteI love the color on this. I have an old telephone bench and it needs a redo! You have inspired me!!
